TITANIUM
Titanium is a very hard, silver-like white, shiny element found on the 4th group of the periodical table. Its melting point is 1660 ºC, boiling point is 3287 ºC, specific weight is 4.5. It is hard enough to scratch quartz in metallic state.
In spite of these superior metallic properties, most of the core production is used in the form of TiO2 (titanium oxide) without reducing to metal.
Though it is known to be a rare element, it is the sixth most found element in the crust. Rarity of the core intensification and hardness of obtaining titanium from ore renders it a precious metal.
Most important titanium minerals are rutile, ilmenite and anatase.

Metallic titanium shows superior physical and chemical properties. Therefore it is an indispensable metal in spacecraft, aircraft and rocket production. |

These are used widely in the craft components where there is high speed, vibration and high temperature, such as engine turbine fins and similar excessively loaded parts. Its chemical resistance is the main reason for its use in the abrasive chemical substance producing factories.
Titanium oxide is the most white paint substance currently known. It is widely used in the paint industry under the name of titanium white. Besides this it can be used in many sectors such as cosmetics industry, linoleum, artificial silk, white ink, colored glass, ceramic glaze, leather and fabric painting, welding electrodes and paper industry. Although it is this widely used, 60% of the entire produced titan oxide is consumed by the paint industry.
Among the other compounds titan chloride is used in bleaching fabrics; tetrachloride is used in obtaining artificial fog and titanium carbide is used as abrasive. |
